As a small kid I generally longed for living on a farm and riding ponies in the country, a couple of cows and heaps of children and one of those 'Marlboro man' type folks close by. Experiencing childhood in an unassuming community with no 'cowhands' or 'cowgirls' I had no clue about how to go about it or even what it was truly similar to. I just had my "Fantasy". Experiencing childhood in the Hippie Era in the shadow of the Vietnam war I never heard any cattle rustler melodies, or truly even read any cowhand stories. I had a touch of data from my grandma about how hard life was in the filthy thirties experiencing childhood in Montana and her mom passing on at a youthful age leaving her dad with 7 kids to raise alone. The harvests had all evaporated and cows were biting the dust, there was no work in Opheim Montana where her dad and large numbers of his siblings had homesteaded.
